So, I mentioned earlier that I would start a thread about the actual ship itself. So, here it is, a rough concept sketch of the Destiny. Please DISREGARD ALL SIDENOTES ON THE DRAWING. It's kind of old, and they're not all accurate.
As you can probably see, its completely different in design from any other ship that earth has built in the past, and is meant for long range exploration. It's about twice the size of the Prometheus, putting it in at around 600-700 meters in length. Here's a short specifications list, but as I have been reminded by my staff, the ship is based around the show, not the other way around:
Armament:
- 7 Rail Gun Mk. II Turrets
- 8 Missile Pods (3 are converted to drone weapon launchers later in the season)
- Earth-Designed Energy Weapon (this is basically a large panel near the center of the ship that can fire an energy burst, ranging in strength from a couple hundred punds of TNT, to a small tactical nuke)
Crew: Approx. 600
Power: Naquadria Generator
Shields: Earth Designed Shield Generator
Hangars: 1
Hangar Capacity:
- Enough F-308's to defend the ship in a skirmish (several squadrons)
- 4 X-09 Transport Craft
- Several PJ's (later in the season)
